Shimeru’s Mission
We strive to help you raise confident, responsible young people through academic accountability in coordination with the values and benefits of judo and jiu jitsu.
Who We Are
Shimeru Judo & Jiu Jitsu Club is a family owned and operated martial arts academy led by Patrick Dooley, a second-degree judo black belt and first-degree jiu jitsu black belt. The Dooley family has four-generations of judoka, dating back more than 65 years. Our jiu jitsu team is a member of the world-renowned Carlson Gracie team.
What We Offer
Shimeru Academy provides a twice-weekly service spanning three hours per session, split between academic supervision and the study of judo and jiu jitsu.
Our staff helps students ensure work is consistently completed on time and to the best of their ability, in addition to monitoring grades to keep students on track to maximize their performance.
On the mat, our coaches provide a fun yet challenging learning environment that meets homeschooling students’ physical education requirements. Students will learn both judo and jiu jitsu, earning rank in both martial arts, while enjoying the highest quality and safest training surface available anywhere.
Meet the Team
Patrick Dooley
Coach Patrick is a second-degree judo black belt and first-degree jiu jitsu black belt with 30 years of experience. He has also enjoyed working with kids as an English teacher in Taiwan, and as a camp counselor at an all-summer ranch camp.
Bree Dooley
Coach Bree adopted the Dooley family martial arts in 2017, now studying with Coach Patrick alongside their two children. She also taught English in Taiwan to pre-K through high school students, and loves helping guide Shimeru’s kid programs as an assistant coach.
Estevan Solis
Coach Sammy has more than 10 years of experience in jiu jitsu, recently earned his judo brown belt, and is an active competitor in both sports. He coaches Shimeru’s Young Kids Fundamentals class for 4-6 year olds, and is currently working to earn his degree in Child Development.
Rachel Hamilton
Coach Rachel was valedictorian of Mission Vista Academy’s first graduating class, and graduated a year ahead of schedule. She has been studying both jiu jitsu and judo for five years, achieving the ranks of purple belt and brown belt, respectively. Rachel is an active competitor and also coaches Shimeru’s Young Kids Fundamentals class while studying to earn her degree in Child Development.
Launching Fall Semester 2023…
Shimeru Academy is now accepting interest forms for its inaugural semester. This launch coincides with Shimeru Judo & Jiu Jitsu Club’s relocation to a beautiful facility, still located at the Outlets at Lake Elsinore, that will double its space to 6,000 square feet. The program is expected to launch in August.
